Board member

Coby-Wilma van Essen-Meijers is an entrepreneur, compliance professional, confidential advisor, trainer & author Wft/Wwft. She thinks and acts outside the box.

She is also the spouse of Edwin, who works as head of legal & compliance at an international bank in Rotterdam and mother of two sons (19 and 17 years old) of whom both are studying. In the morning, she enjoys taking an hour's walk with her Welsh Springer Spaniel before the hectic work life begins again.

Coby has been working within financial services since 1985, with a preference for the insurance profession. But in recent years she has also been active in the KYC/CDD field, both with banks, insurers and underwriters. She also regularly provides training in the field of Wft and Wwft, as well as compliance training.

Coby: "In early 2022, I participated in the WIFS Leadership programme, following the recommendation of a participant from Cohort 1 (autumn 2021). From here, my ripple was created: equal opportunities for everyone within the financial sector, male or female with an Mbo- Hbo or WO education. Together with the participants from Cohort 1 and Cohort 2, we aim to change the financial world. More from the human perspective within financial services, less from targets. The 50/50 mission fits into that perfectly. With the WIFS board and everyone who wants to contribute to it, I believe in 'trust the process'. And would like to contribute to this change."

“With the board of WIFS, I would like to contribute to creating for equal opportunities for all within the financial sector.”
