The Beauty of Diversity
Indra is an energetic, positive, and passionate woman, born and raised in Breda. Together with her partner, she has five children: four boys and a girl. She has been working in the financial services industry for over 23 years, of whic 16 as an entrepreneur of various businesses. The largest of these companies is Dazure, which she founded in 2008 with her business partner and friend, Odette Bakker.
Dazure and the Family Standard
Dazure is an insurtech and product developer specializing in insurance (life and disability). Everything at Dazure is measured against the 'family standard.' This means developing products that are good, make sense and are meaningful, the type of products you would want to offer to your own family. The family standard also sets the tone on how relationships, customers, and colleagues are treated.
Podcast 'Sterveding'
A good example of Dazure’s personal and warm approach is the 'Sterveding' podcast. In this series, a Dazure employee speaks with surviving family members: their own clients who had to use the life insurance. These honest and heartfelt conversations about grief, sorrow, love, and resilience provide support and recognition to other bereaved families.
Mo-Lotta
In addition to Dazure, Indra and Odette founded the storytelling platform Mo-Lotta, aiming to present financial products in a gentle and narrative manner. Many people respond better to a softer approach rather than the corporate, masculine style you often see in the financial industry.
"If you take from society, you should also be willing to give something back."
Indra: "If you take from society, you must also be willing to give something back. With this in mind, we support various social causes at Dazure, such as the JINC Foundation, the ALS Foundation, and the Social Care Foundation Breda. I am also very happy to contribute to the beautiful mission of WIFS."
The Beauty of Diversity
A major driving force for Indra is the appreciation of differences. Only then much more can be achieved with a company, team or organization, in the broadest sense of the word. Indra's motto, 'the beauty of diversity,' was strengthened by the experience with her eldest son, who has a severe form of dyslexia. What initially seemed like a challenge turned into a positive experience that taught the family a lot about creativity and acceptance. Indra: "And then suddenly, at least it seems that way because it is a growing insight, the positive manifests itself, and we can do something with it!" This has inspired her even more to encourage social acceptance of differences and positively focus on people's unique talents and backgrounds. She continues: “Our (education) system often rewards the same skills, the same form of cognitive intelligence, and I find that not intelligent at all. It's a huge waste of talents. My contribution to WIFS will often touch on this powerful subject. There is a lot of wonderful things ahead!”
